Over the years we've made friends with people from all over the world. From travellers, to students, to interns, Monkey Bay leaves a lasting impression with all who stay and learn with us.

A tremendous place for a high school student's first trip to the REAL Central America” Feb 23, 2014

Our high school has chosen Monkey Bay as our base for ecological and cultural explorations in Belize. We bring 25 ninth graders for an 8 day trip in February. We were met at the airport by friendly and informative guides, the bedrooms, showers and bathrooms were all clean and safe. The meals were always nutritious with many options, and they made the students VERY happy! Monkey Bay staff arranged expertly guided trips to Mayan sites, caves, canoe trips on the Sibun River, overnight trips to Cockscomb Jaguar Sanctuary, snorkeling in the Cayes and local farms. Our guides (Juan, Chester, Justin, Mitch) were all natives of Belize with a tremendous range of knowledge and experience to share. Monkey Bay also arranged for us to perform service projects at a local elementary school, which was a life-changing experience for our students. Our trip ended with a Creole drumming group helping us celebrate our new-found love for Belize.

And if that was not enough, when one of our students had a relapse of a medical problem, Monkey Bay founders Marga and Matt Miller quickly arranged EXPERT medical attention and drove us to the hospital personally. We could not be happier with our experience.

Our new home away from home in Belize May 3, 2016

The people of Monkey Bay and the fellow volunteers and students we met made our time here something we will never forget. We have new forever friends and we are so grateful for their hospitality and support during our summer of service in Belize. Marga and Matt lead a wonderful team of people who are there to help you get the most our of your time in Belize, be it service, education or adventure.

Getting used to completely different culture, climate, flora and fauna is not always easy but we sure had fun and learned so much. Be open to new experiences and take every opportunity to challenge yourself with daring adventures - You'll be so happy you did.

What a find!! August 8th, 2016

Wow what a place! We needed somewhere to stay the night so we were close to Belize zoo. We pulled in off the main highway into this haven. We were greater by iguanas and very knowledgable staff who not only showed us to our room but have is a tour of the whole sight. The room was simple but perfect and opened into an amazing library. Just outside the library is a balcony where you can sit in a hammock and watch the wildlife go about its business. Although the showers in our block were shared (I believe they have en-suits as well) they were clean and well looked after. They run interesting tours from here which I wish we had time to go and do. Overall a fantastic place!

“Motel 6 is not the only place that leaves the lights on for you”  Aug 20, 2015

This visit to Monkey Bay was a site visit for a future student program. The staff at MB made us feel so welcome and took great care of us. Every detail was taken care of every single day. For example, most nights, we returned after dark...and found the outdoor light on our cabin on, welcoming us! The level of professionalism in planning and communicating is unparalleled. They listen for your needs and objectives, then draw upon their vast network of sites and organizations to put together an exemplary program. Food was great - better this trip than previous trips. Lodging is comfortable and adequate, but not flashy. Good internet access...although we found that Dell computers don't handle the tropics well. Running a student or group trip through MB is a no brainer...they do the work, you take advantage of an amazing international experience.
